Red-Kote is an internal fuel tank liner designed to seal leaks and prevent further rusting. As a sealant, Red-Kote excels at sealing the often hundreds of pin-hole leaks that occur along seams or where straps wrap around the tank. Once in place, Red-Kote forms a very tough, flexible membrane that will never crack or flake as many competitive products do. Red-Kote will not plug lines or cause engine damage when used properly. Future rust will be prevented because condensation will not contact the metal. A partial list of additives that Red-Kote is resistant to includes ethyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, toluene, methyl tertiary butyl ether, isopropyl alcohol and tetraethyl lead. Red-Kote takes approximately eight hours to dry. Packaged nine quarts per case or single gallons.

The state of California limits the amount of certain Volatile Oraganic Compounds (VOC), such as the Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) used in regular Red-Kote. Other states are also enacting VOC limits, but not necessarily as strict as California. VOCs react photochemically with sunlight and other compounds to form undesirable air pollution (Smog). If you have seen the "Smoky Mountains" you have seen natural smog created by the terpenes emitted by trees. Low V.O.C. Red-Kote uses Acetone as its solvent because Acetone does not photchemically react in the air. Low VOC Red-Kote has the same performance as regular Red-Kote, but dries to a more satin sheen instead of glossy like regular Red-Kote. May be sold to California residents and to other states where Volatile Oraganic Compounds regulations limit the use of products containing MEK.
